It's now 3 days since the election. And while I'm disappointed in the outcome, and can't believe that 50+ million Americans think George W Bush has done a good job, and don't see how a guy with a job approval rating below 50% could get more than 50% of the votes, I've decided that there is nothing that I can do about it.

In my opinion, there are two different kinds of people in the world. the hopeful and the scared. There could be another, perhaps even worse, attack on New York while I live here. And while I believe that peoples hatred of us has much to do with our arrogant foreign policy over the past 60 years, the most that I could do to change that was vote for a change new administration. Didn't work. Of course, considering the fact that both of the candidates were serious politicians I doubt that things would have changed that much. Maybe Kerry wouldn't have done as many stupid things and been such an ass, but he would have had to deal with the same people in the military and their hardware manufacturers. Arguably, these are the people who wanted all this war to begin with. Killing people never fixed anything. And while bin Laden is a bad guy, there's no way he's going to be able to kill millions of people like some of the governments in the past century, be it Hitler, or Stalin, or Mao. I could ramble on and on, but I'll stop

So I'm not going to sit here and be afraid, because it won't stop it from happening again, but it will cause me to waste much of the time and energy that I do have in my 80 or so years on earth. I'm going to be hopeful, because as they put it so eloquently in The Shawshank Redemption, "Get busy living, or get busy dying"

I'm not ready to die quite yet.
