I became aware at one point that it was not so much what was said, but rather what wasn't said that mattered. That the true measure of a relationship was not the lengths and breadths that you went to affirm, but rather how little it needed reaffirming.

Some people say that relationships are about work and compromise. But perhaps it's just that these people are in exhausting and compromising relationships. Not all relationships are easy, but the best ones are effortless. If there is such a concept as God, this bliss is what they mean

I've gotten a taste of such things, and I'm not sure if I will ever again be able to compromise. Alone, is better any day of the week.
